Saturday February 9th, 2002 @ Bolton Valley Ski Area, Vermont

What is it:        Last year Stimilon launched the first ever Stimilon Snocross Challenge and invited experienced and amateur drivers alike to race a specially prepared course.  We had the Pro Open, Amateur Open and Rookie Open classes.  We had Prize money for the Pros, and product prizes for the Ams and Rookies.

This year we have added more classes, designed a bigger track, got more money for the purse, brought in more prizes and just plain made this event even MORE fun.  More, More, More!  This event is designed for anyone who just wants to come out and have a blast racing (or watching a race) with their buddies  Whether you are a seasoned racer that can't make it out to Vernon Downs to race the WSA or Rock Maple that weekend, or if you are someone who has always wanted to get into snowmobile racing but never did - this is your race!   Bolton Valley ski area has killer snowmaking and grooming vehicles to ensure a good course.

Here's the deal:    If you have heard anything about Stimilon and our Moto, Snowboard, and/or Skateboard events then you know we are hyped on riding time and having FUN!  We want you to ride more.  We will once again build a course down at the Timberline base lodge (the first lift on your right when you drive up).  This race is set up for the sled owner who always wanted to get into racing but didn't want to go to a big race.  We are limiting the entry for this race to a  150 SLED MAX so as to insure a good time for all who come.  This year we will have six classes - Pro, Amateur, and Rookie in both 600cc & under  and Open classes.

Pro is for someone who has racing experience, a race sled, or who is just a plain sick rider (but leave your egos home, please).  These racers will be racing for Cash, have more laps, and extra practice time.

Amateur is for the racer who is just starting out racing, but has raced, but doesn't feel that competitive yet.  These racers are racing for product, and will have more laps and practice time than rookies, but not as much as the Pros.

Rookie is for the first time racer.  Please respect those in this class, if you have raced before, please enter under Amateur or Pro.  These racers are pretty much racing for the experience of getting out on a course for the first time, but we do have some prizes as well - hey, who hooks you up?!?

This Second Annual Event will once again be held at Bolton Valley Ski Area in Vermont.  For Directions Click here.

The Format:   We will run six classes - Pro, Amateur, and Rookie in both 600cc & under  and Open classes.  Everyone will of course get practice time.  We want you to ride a ton, so here is the tentative schedule:  We have set up two practice times for each class.  Right now we have time slotted for the first practice to consist of every one (Pro, Am, Rookie) getting 10 minutes each so that you get to know the track.  Then, when your first practice is done you have time to go back to your pit and make adjustments to your sled and come back out for the second practice which will be 15 mins for the Pros and Ams and 10 mins for the Rookies.  Now everything is subject to change if weather doesn't cooperate, or the snow is garbage or a bomb blows the place up, but this is what we have planned.

Remember - this is just practice - not a race - it will be hectic out there and we don't want anyone getting destroyed before the green flag drops.  We are giving you extra time so that you do not feel pressured to do something stupid your first lap out there. So be smart and respect those around you - thanks.

The practice order will be rookies first, then Ams, lastly Pros.  The race order will be the same.  Racing will go in the following format - Heat race (everybody will race their opening heat race.)  You will be told what heat you are in at registration.  You are expected to be in the staging area at least 2 races before your round, so please be ready.  The Top 2 will get a by to round 3, everyone else will get to race again in round 2 where again the Top 2 from round 2 will advance to round 3.  If you don't come in the top two in either round 1 or round 2, you my friend are done - pack up, go to the bar and grab a beverage. If you made it to round three - congrats, you are still in the game.  Depending how many racers we have in round 3 will determine who advances to the Main Event - that is where the cash and prizes are.

Remember - this format is with our best intentions - weather, snow levels, and my mood might alter this schedule - we will finalize the format at the racer meeting before practice.

Awards will follow the Main Events in the Timberline Lodge.  Everybody will want to stick around for awards b/c even is you lost - we will have our raffle.  At registration, each racer will get their raffle tickets.  Once again, Stimilon's focus is on fun, not necessarily winning (but if you win it is even more fun, right)

Spectators: There are VAST trails that go right to Bolton Valley!  You can ride your trail sled right to the race - or better yet - join us and race!  Spectating is only $5 for this race. Bolton has a Hotel, Restaurants, and a cool Bar, so come up and make a day out of it - Good Racing right near by!

History: This event is not about points, trophies, or championships, it really isn't even about the prizes.   It is about getting out, tossing it with your friends and having a blast - No Pressure!  Whether you are a seasoned veteran racer, or you have always wanted to get into it, you will have a great time.  Once again, Stimilon is proud to work with none other than The Infamous DJ Niceness spinning for our event!  That's right - live music throughout the day - We are stoked!!!

Important Note:    Due to restrictions in our insurance, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed to compete in the Stimilon Snocross Challenge at Bolton Valley.  We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this causes.
