Welcome to the 2010 Masters of Mini Website!
Here we go again!
Friends,I am flattered that so many of you have been asking the question - "What is going on with MoM this year?" So it has come to my attention that I need to answer it. The simple answer is we are taking the steps necessary to insure the strength of YOUR series for the future. We want the Masters of Mini to continue to grow and be here for many more years!
Many of you know that I was asked to help out up at Mototown this winter. What I didnt realize when I accepted the position was how much work and time it was going to involve. I was pulling 70 hours a week plus a 2 hour commute each day. I am not trying to get your pity here, I am just trying to illustrate the sheer amount of time spent working on, traveling to, etc for Mototown. During that time MoM enjoyed 2 Open Practices for Pit Bikes only and we saw quite a few new faces. We also had many pit bikes come up and ride over the course of the winter as well. All in all, I think everyone enjoyed themselves this winter.
What does that have to do with MoM? Well, by putting my focus on trying to keep Mototown going, I didnt have the time I would like to get the MoM schedule dialed. My plans were to announce the schedule back in March, but that didnt happen. I didnt want to put out a schedule that was not complete, which I am sure you can all understand.
Because of that delay and the fact that the Stimilon Motocross Challenge will be in July this year I felt that the best decision was to start the series at Marshfield in August, like we have done every year other than last year. Marshfield has always been a strong opener for us. There is something about racing at a fairground, at night, in front of 1000s of fans - there is nothing like it!. We will then goto Milford in September and I think this event can be huge based on the feedback from last year. My plans are to then goto Crow Hill in October. November of course will be at Cycles 128 and then in December I am putting Mototown back on the schedule only because they always seem to be open in December even though they claim they are all done. The way I figure it, we will know by September or October anyway, so if they are full on Hollywood by then, well then, we will just cancel it. Either way I am working on a Stimilon/MoM banquet in December for all - probably at the Marriott or the Hilton near Mototown. That is central to all, easy to get to and if we have the Mototown finale, everyone will be right there. If we have the Mototown race it will be on a Saturday and the banquet will be a brunch, lunch, afternoon gig Sunday. If Mototown is not available, we will do the banquet Saturday night with a big party - either way Dave Brown will premiere his new movie and Matt Francis has offered up a slide show for the ages.
The website is being redone as we speak but will take some time to perfect. We will get the schedule updated as dates are confirmed. The rules, classes, etc will be similar to last year, however I am tweaking a few of the rules because of all the whining and claims of cheating from last year - you guys need to get over it and just go race and have fun - haha.
Some things we are working on for your convenience include online registration this year secure with paypal or credit card. This is long over due and I hope you all take advantage of this when it is offered.
I appreciate everyone's support and patience. I know you all want to race and get together, but I am doing what I feel is in the best interest of the series and what will ensure its growth for years to come. I am also working on a couple more open practices to keep us in shape.
I invite your feedback and discussion - always.
Thank you for your continued support,
davo
