Red Bull and Stimilon - Mulletica 2009
![]() Photo Gallery |
Here are the second round of photos from the Stimilon/Red Bull Party Friday night. Known as "Mulletica 09" a celebration of 80s metal and all that was mullet worthy, this Southwick National Pre Party was the talk of the pits the following day. Those that went releved the dream and those that missed out wished they had not. SImply put - how can you go wrong when everyone dresses like an 80's freak, you have an 80's metal cover band playing in a hotel lobby (and a nice one!), hot chicks, Red Bull and ample supply of Colt 45 - good times! Watch for more photos and a video of the nights magic - soon to come... |

Stimilon and Red Bull held a party the Friday Night before the National at Southwick and it was a riot!. Everyone dressed up in 80's wear because Kobra Kai (the 80's metal cover band that played the Stimilon Motocross Challenge back in June was playing the party too). Kobra played right int he hotel lobby and it was a sight to be seen. These are just the photos from the Photo booth - see how many industry guys you recognize... |

Ok - last one and davo has left the building - do not email him, he is on site
All other updates will be on Twitter - so better get on that and follow Stimilon for updates from the track friday and friday night
Buy Local
Once again, We can not emphasize enough the importance of your dollar when buying locally. Support local Southwick businesses - gas, beer, snack, sandwiches - everything! There are a ton of package stores right on the way, a big Y, quicky marts all within 2 miles of the track. Be smart - buy local and tell them you are in town for Stimilon and then throw a set of horns in there face with a big belly laugh - it will be worth the deer in headlights look and you will get a chuckle - go ahead try it, you wont be disappointed!
Can I bring anything?
Yes - Stimilon enjoys Setting Sail with the Captain. Dont be a slouch - share! Oh and if anyone has a flat screen - we need it for rock band late night - just throwing it out there
Garbage
PLEASE be respectful here - bag your shit up and throw it in the dumpsters on site - if they are full dont be a pansy - take it home - it wont kill you. The reason everything is so expensive these days is because people treat mx facilities like it is there dumping grounds. Please act like it is your home - because it is someone else's thanks.
Its Going to Rain...
Fuck It! Actually if you do a little research Friday should be cloudy in the am with (can you believe it) sun in the afternoon!!! and saturday we might get a shower or two during the day but nothing that will make you melt. Saturday night... well - good thing we have a covered area for the bands - oh yeah, we thought of that too - get your asses down to MX 338 - Southwick!

SMC pioneers
Here are some additional updates for you - including the big news we told you about earlier
Pit Bikes
Dont be a retard and show up with your $10,000 pitbike to ride in the pits - this event is for roached out 50cc beaters like the old days. The temptation to wheelie around the pits to impress your girlfriend will either get you knocked out or kicked out - neither of which you want. Besides - you wouldnt want to scratch those pretty graphics...
Gates are at 5pm Friday
I know I have already said this but everyone seems to be emailing me - "bro, can I get in early" NO YOU CANT. Registration/Check In is from 6-9pm Friday. Gates open at 6am Saturday. Registration/check Saturday in is from 7-730 ONLY - if you are coming in Saturday get there at 6am please to allow time to get in, set up and registered.
Your lack of planning does not constitute and emergency on our part
Registration/Pre Registered Riders
EVERYONE must check in - even if you are pre registered, paid and gotten a confirmation. We will have separate lines so pre registered riders can breeze in but you must pick up your wrist bands, practice tickets and Ride Day wristbands (if applicable). You will not be allowed on the track without your proper wristbands, practice tickets, etc. Plus - we have a thank you gift to all those who pre registered (meaning paid in full AND turned in their paperwork on time)
Can I still sign up?
Yes of course - there are over 444 possible spots available in 17 out of 20 classes. Scroll down to see a detailed breakdown of available spots in your class.
Understand the format
As explained in the other sections of this site - every class will get two motos. Your overall place for the day in each class is the combination of those two moto scores - just like AMA or any other race organization. Overall placement determines who makes the main. The $5000 purse is paid out for the main events only. Any questions - read through the rest of this site - it is all laid out in the MAIN EVENTS section
What if it rains?
Boo-Hoo - skirts are in aisle 5 - this is motocross! I dont understand whats come over New England lately - we used to be the grittiest riders out there. Now it seems like we are a bunch of pansies. Its called a Dirt Bike for a reason - it gets dirty. A Quote from my wife: "These are not little pit bikes - they are full size bikes. Tell everyone to stop being bunch of fags!" Classic - I love that woman. Ralph and Diane have graciously added water spickets all over the pits, so bring your pressure washers and you sack and lets go have some fun! We run RAIN OR SHINE!
Grooming
The track will be groomed Friday afternoon so dont worry about the rain toinight - it will all get cleaned up tomorrow.
Weather
Weathermen are paid lots of money to be wrong 50% of the time. Before you bag out because you might get wet, think about how many races ran this year when it looked like rain. No one showed up, then it was beautiful and the track was mint. All we are saying is come have fun with your boys - its going to be a good time no matter what.
Gate Fee
As with any track there is a gate fee. Usually $10 per day, $20 for a 2 day. The gate fee this weekend is $25 - we could have gone more, probably should have gone more, but we didnt have the heart. This is Stimilon and this event aint cheap. Out of respect for our experts who plan on racing elsewhere Sunday anyone leaving the facility before 8pm can have their wristband snipped and get $10 back - we are not heartless.
You dont want to do that though!
The reason our gate is a whopping $5 more is because we have 3 bands Saturday night! We were going to keep this a surprise but with the possible weather coming in and so many people crying about their hair getting wet we decided to let you in on our secret...
Who's Playing?
(
Can I still come see the bands after I get out of work, etc?
YES - of course. The gate fee still applies, but the bands will be there. Come party with us.
Dont Drink and Drive
Hopefully we shouldnt even have to say this - but the Southwick Police will be waiting at the end of the road if you decide to test your fate - We didnt call them, but they know about this event.
Respect Earns Respect
This race, event, party, everything is for adults - so act like one. Police yourselves so someone else doesnt have to. We cant believe after 7 years this event has a chance to happen again. Thank you for being cool!
There it is boys and girls - we told you we had surprises for you. If you would rather stay home Saturday night and watch reruns of the A team - be my guest. Stimilon is back and we are going to have a good time - no matter what!
Hope to see you there

After Hours (beverages)
We are asking a favor of everyone - please no glass at the track. You can have whatever you want in your RV, but please do not walk around with glass bottles. There is no need to have broken glass at a sand track where kids and tires are - thanks for your cooperation. Also, concerning after hours beverages - please make sure to have it in a cup, coozie (which we will be supplying at sign up) brown bag, etc. Please respect the "no open container" (I am paraphrasing) rule at the track ;)
Flying insects
You will want to pick up some yard guard or other type of fogger at Walmart on the way up, also some Deet or something. Apparently the bugs come out at night but the foggers work insane for your pit area and the Off or Deet will keep you covered when trolling the pits. Just a suggestion.
Food
Food will be served on site all weekend - both Southwick's Canteen and Great Brook's Farms Bruce Slater will be with us not only racing but serving up all the tastes you can handle. Breakfast sandwiches, lunch and dinner. The southwick canteen is located up by their sign up are and Bruce will likely be in the pits with us. Please support these local vendors and spend your hard earned money with the vendors at the track. Stop n Shop, Shaw's etc are great stores, but they are not backing you this weekend. These guys are and they have good eats. Plan on getting a breakfast sandwich, or lunch/dinner with them so they continnue to support racing. If everyone buys at least one meal from each of these guys everyone will be better off - think about it - Spend your money where it helps our sport.
Minors (under 18) signing up for the race
Minors (under 18) signing up for the raceMust have a parent with you or notarized note of guardianship. Note of guardianship MUST BE notarized - no exceptions. We know many of you who are under 18 race all the time - so you should be used to this. Dont expect us to bend the rules (law) and let you slide in because you think we are cool - we're not. We are old and cranky and have not interest in being responsible for you (we can barely take care of ourselves). You want to be treated like an adult - act like one and be proactive. Unless you are 18, the law will not allow you to sign your own waiver nor be responsible for yourself - that is why your parents must be there - Dont thank us, Thank your lawyer.
June 16, 2009
Everyone is getting excited about this weekend and the emails have been off the hook so allow me to update you all on some of the better questions:
Pit Vehicles are allowed
Yes, can you believe it? Now, there are some rules and stipulations (we know - big word - look it up)
Viloate one of the rules - loose your sticker, no warnings - ride without a registration sticker - you are asked to leave, no refunds. Simple. Basically guys, this event can be as fun as you want it to be, if you act like adults. There are very few rules this weekend and Ralph and Diane (from Southwick) are being waaaaay cooler than we could ever deserve - so RESPECT THEM.
Thank you
Check in
Everyone must check in at the Stimilon Tent - whether you are pre registered or signing up that night. Everyone must check in, confirm their classes, racing numbers, etc and get your wristbands, and practice tickets. Check in is from 6-9pm Friday night and 7-730am Saturday. Saturday is super short because we want you in Friday night. Also - we have a full day Saturday and dont want to waste time doing sign ups so plan accordingly.
Parking
We have the run of the place and you can pit with all of your friends, but please dont park like an asshole and take up 19 spots. You laugh but somebody is going to do it... Set up a bitching pit area for you and your homies, but try and not take more room than you need - be kind to your neighbor (they just might have that part you will need come the second motos.
Water
Southwick has very generously allowed us to hook up to their water spickets for the weekend - this is not your right, but a privilege! Do not feel you own a hydrant, nor should you poach someone's spot when they arent looking. If a spicket is taken, respect that There are plenty of water hydrants in the back pits - but all the action will be in the front pits - so choose accordingly.
Gates and times
Gates open at 5pm Friday, 6am Saturday - DONT think if you show up early you are getting in. The person at the front has been instructed that name dropping will send you to the back of the line. Gates will close Friday and Saturday nights at 10pm, If you get there later than 10pm and want to come in you must park on the road or by the legion (please be respectful in your parking - the legion has been instructed to tow your sorry ass if you deserve it - seriously). Camping after hours is allowed if you get there late and you can move in first thing in the morning. Once you pay your gate fee you may come inside and party down.
Partying Down
Ok - this should go without saying, but knowing quite a few of you... it needs to be said. Yes all the rumors of past events are true - believe them! But that was 7 years ago and we are all lucky we didnt wind up in the hospital or jail or both. It is 7 years later, we are all older, most of us are now married, some even have kids. Now, I know you think you can still party like you were 18 there buddy, but we both know you will be face down in a pillow by 1030. For those of you thinking you have something to prove - DONT. I am not saying dont have fun - DO. But I am saying be smart, respectful and tap your buddies out when it starts getting stupid (ok really stupid). Respect earns Respect and I want to make sure we are invited back next year. It has been 7 years since the last Stimilon, so please - just police yourselves. Thanks. Lecture done - so now, its on!
More to come - check back often...
June 15, 2009
Pre Registration is closed and the response to the 10th Anniversary Stimilon Motocross Challenge has been outstanding!
Over 340 entries have come in so far - however there are spots left in almost every class. Now, to allow those who signed up at the last minute this past Friday, we are going to wait for their mail in entries and post open spots for each class on Wednesday evening June 17th. At that time all entries will be in and we will report back to you how many spots are left in each class in an effort to help you plan your weekend. We respect that many of you just found out about this event (do you live under a rock) and we are stoked that you want to join the party!
Since there are quite a few pre registered riders who have still not sent in their paperwork and/or payment (but we have been promised they are "in the mail" - insert lewd joke here) there could be more sports opening up. (So if you did pre register and have been a lame ass by not sending your paperwork/payment in - here is your chance to not get hosed) Once Again - if you have not sent in your paperwork and paid in full - you are not registered. If you received an email confirmation from me saying you are in - you are good. If not contact me via email right away. davidwolcott@gmail.com
If you can be patient with us, we will work our tails off to allow everyone who wants to enter this event to do so. We are stoked to have such an amazing number of pre entries and we have several surprises for those of you who choose to spend your weekend with us - you wont be disappointed. Cash, Prizes, Mystery, Intrigue - and thats just friday night...
We will have additional updates each day posted here on the site - sometimes several times in a day. All of this is an effort to keep you informed so that you can best plan for your weekend. So please check www.stimilon.com often!
As always - we encourage you to sign up for Twitter (its FREE) and "follow" stimilon (www.twitter.com/stimilon) this will allow us to give you updates from the track Friday night as classes fill up so those of you planning on coming Saturday will know what is still open.
We will have registration open Friday night the 19th from 6-9pm (gates open at 5pm)
We will also have registration Saturday the 20th, if there is room, times to be announced but it will be early (come friday night if you can, just to get a spot in the pits and hang with us)
Thanks so much for your support and cooperation!
davo
